Georges River Land Trust (GRLT), a 31-year old nonprofit organization located in Rockland, Maine, seeks a passionate, hands-on, full-time Development Officer (DO) to manage a growing development program to support GRLT’s ambitious strategic goals and initiatives. The DO will report to Executive Director, and work closely with staff and GRLT’s engaged Board of Directors. The DO will be a key member of the management team and will have primary day-today responsibility for existing and new fundraising programs that will include, but not necessarily be limited to, individual gifts, major donor development, annual appeals, management of donor database, development of corporate/business donor strategy, government and private foundation grants, communications (press releases, newsletters, social media), management and growth of membership, special events, and development of creative fundraising strategies and initiatives. The successful candidate will have experience and ease in the cultivation of major donors. S/he must understand the realities of working in a small organization where every job is hands-on. The organization is dynamic, and offers the opportunity for the successful candidate to fuel significant organizational growth within the mission of land conservation in our extraordinary mid-coast Maine watershed.

Candidates to be considered will have a depth of experience in non-profit fundraising, including donor research, cultivation and solicitation. Successful candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills, a well-organized work style, ability to keep accurate and confidential records, ability to work effectively with a wide range of people and be a team player. A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree is required, or experience commensurate with the needs of the position. Strong experience with, and willingness to learn, programs necessary to conduct the duties of this position, including: Little Green Light, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, InDesign, Adobe Photoshop. Marketing, graphic design and social media experience is desirable. Success in managing a capital campaign is also a plus. Professional, outgoing, positive, energetic and people-oriented approach, including the ability to inspire and motivate action and success in others.
