National Communications Internship

Clean Water Action is seeking an national communications intern. Clean Water Action’s national internship program provides motivated and talented individuals an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the politics, communications, and advocacy that helps to shape our national water policy. Interns will work under the guidance of national communication staff. 

Communications interns will work with our national communications team to inform the public about our national and state campaigns to protect clean water, fight climate change, expose the impacts of oil and gas production, find safe alternatives to toxic chemicals, and more. Our communications team is focused on finding creative ways to communicate about our programs and help win victories for our water, health, and communities. 

Since our founding during the campaign to pass the landmark Clean Water Act in 1972, Clean Water Action has worked to win strong health and environmental protections by bringing issue expertise, solution-oriented thinking and people power to the table. We will protect clean water in the face of attacks from a polluter friendly Administration and Congress.

Responsibilities:

  • Writing, editing, and posting content for website articles, blog posts, email communications, etc.
  • Helping to manage social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, etc.)
  • Researching campaign issues

Internships are unpaid, but we do reimburse for any work related travel expenses. We welcome individuals with a variety of backgrounds to apply.

Qualifications: 

Individuals must be highly motivated and eager to learn and 

  • Have a high school degree
  • Have an interest in environmental issues
  • Have a passion for making change
  • Have good communication skills
  • Have solid computer skills (competent in working with Word, Excel, Internet, etc.);
  • Be well organized
  • Be able to work independently and in a team environment
  • Good writing skills are a plus
