We are looking for someone who is passionate about improving water supply to the 844 million people who still do not have access to an improved source of drinking water. The research will focus on three different types of water harvesting infrastructure in Rajasthan and will provide a better understanding of the transport, interactions and fate of established (e.g. fluoride) and emerging contaminants during groundwater recharge. Ultimately, the outcomes of the project will help reducing the incidence of fluorosis in India, hence contributing to the improvement of public health and well-being of local populations.
You will be part of a team carrying out novel research in collaboration with Indian partners. The project will involve travel to Rajasthan for two periods of several months each, as well as a significant component of groundwater modelling.
You will have a PhD in a related area, as well as experience of fieldwork and groundwater modelling. You will have excellent project and time management skills and be experienced in preparing dissemination materials including peer reviewed papers. You will be self-motivated and ready to develop your research career at Cranfield.
