The career ladder promotion potential of this position is the GS-11 level. However, this position may be filled at a lower grade. If so, when and if it is determined that a subsequent promotion is warranted, it may be made without further competition. Promotion up to and including the GS-11 level is neither guaranteed nor automatic.

-Manage and coordinate river and reservoir operations in real-time, and perform hydrologic studies in areas of flood control, water supply and water use.
-Serve as team leader or member of interdisciplinary teams in the formulation, evaluation, and completion of the hydrologic studies, biological assessments, environmental impact statements, etc.
-Assist in developing, calibrating, and using computer models to determine water requirements, analyze runoff, examine reservoir systems, perform backwater analysis, and provide statistics as necessary.
-Perform power scheduling, contract compliance reviews, surface and groundwater quality monitoring and review of lab contracts, groundwater well monitoring, miscellaneous hydrologic data gathering and analyses, fieldwork, quality control of data, website maintenance, communication with partners, and provide technical support on issues regarding upper Snake River projects and general water management.
