The Pillar of Engineering Systems and Design, Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), offers one fully-funded PhD position in areas broadly related to hydro-climatic variability, water-energy nexus, water resources management, and data-driven control. Potential topics of research include:
- Characterizing the vulnerability of hydropower systems to heat waves;
- Quantifying the water-energy nexus in thermopower and hydropower systems;
- Modelling the return period of extreme weather events and their impact on power supply and distribution systems;
- Developing adaptive reservoir management schemes.
Applicants must hold a Bachelors and/or Masters degree in engineering, science, or applied mathematics, with a good academic background in hydrology, optimization and statistics/probability.
The start time is mid-September 2018.
