Various, , AU

A range of policy, technical and regulatory positions are currently available across the MDBA, with additional positions that may become available in the near future. This bulk round provides a great opportunity for experienced individuals, with a range of backgrounds, to make a significant contribution to the water reform underway in the Murray-Darling Basin.

Policy and Planning Division
The Policy and Planning Division provides strategic advice to the Authority and the Executive about the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of the Basin Plan. This includes assisting the Basin States with the development of water resource plans that are suitable for Commonwealth accreditation, leading the social, sociocultural (Aboriginal) and economic assessment of water reform in the Basin, and improving the operation of the Basin water market. It also includes supporting the transition from the Cap on diversions to the new Sustainable Diversion Limits, and compliance.

Environmental Management Division
The Environmental Management Division manages environmental assessment, planning, and analysis to support the implementation of the Basin Plan. The Division leads assessment of the water dependent ecosystems across the Basin to inform decisions associated with water sharing and management. The Division also supports the planning, coordination, analysis, and monitoring of the use of water by holders of water entitlements used to achieve environmental objectives.

River Management Division
The River Management Division supports the MDBA in the operation and management of the River Murray System and in enhancing understanding of the operation of all rivers in the Basin to support water resource planning.

Within the Division River Operations ensure the River Murray System is managed efficiently, transparently, and equitably in sharing the waters of the River Murray. The Assets function provides direct and fund management of River Murray operations assets by relevant state constructing authorities. The Water Resources function undertakes hydrologic and hydraulic modelling and numerical analysis to support programs across the MDBA

Following the recent compliance review, the MDBA now has an increased focus on its regulatory and compliance role.

The positions require an ability to engage and work with a wide range of people across the MDBA and the Basin. These stakeholders include researchers, local government representatives, Traditional Owners, farming organisations, business owners, tourism organisations, community groups and State and Commonwealth government representatives.

More details on specific positions currently available are available on the MDBA careers page.
