The GLA Environment unit is recruiting to a Principal Policy officer role in the Climate Change Adaptation team

In the Mayor of London’s recently published draft London Environment Strategy he set out his ambition for London to become the greenest global city. This includes making London a zero carbon city by 2050 and make London resilient to severe weather and longer-term climate change impacts, including flooding, heat risk and drought.

This role will support the implementation of a number of policies and proposals in the draft strategy on adapting to climate change. This will include reducing the risks and impacts of flooding, increasing the amount of sustainable drainage across the city and ensuring efficient, secure, resilience and affordable water supplies for London. The role will work closely with the GLA planning team to ensure that adaptation policies are delivered through new developments and also with flood risk management authorities, water companies and the relevant regulators.
