IIED is a policy and action research organisation. We promote sustainable development to improve livelihoods and protect the environments on which these livelihoods are built. We specialise in linking local priorities to global challenges. IIED is based in London and works in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and the Pacific, with some of the world's most vulnerable people. We work with them to strengthen their voice in the decision-making arenas that affect them — from village councils to international conventions.

The post holder will be part of the global climate law, policy and governance team supporting the least developed countries (LDCs) in the UNFCCC negotiations. S/he will also be responsible for developing and leading research on implementation of global climate change decisions at national level.

To succeed in this role you must have a postgraduate degree in a relevant social sciences discipline, such as law or international relations. You will have a solid research background evidenced by a track record of growing publications in area of global climate change governance.

You will have an understanding of the debates, processes, actors and institutions linked to the climate change negotiations and sustainable development agenda, which will include experience of working with the LDCs in the UNFCCC negotiations.

Your English will be fluent with good oral and written communication skills and the ability to produce a range of research publications for different audiences.
