AguaClara Reach, Inc (predecessor AguaClara LLC) is seeking a highly-motivated engineer to assist our local implementation partner in deploying innovative, non-electric, community-scale water treatment technologies in villages. AguaClara has begun partnering with a reputed NGO in Odisha, India to pilot a unique chlorination technology for a small population. The engineer-trainer must assist the NGO in local fabrication of the technology, installation, startup, troubleshooting, and monitoring. The engineer-trainer will be conducting this work with the goal of training local groups. The engineer-trainer must enable communities to operate and maintain the technology independently in the long run, while imparting the knowledge required for the partner to deploy the technologies independently on a large scale. Extensive training will be provided to the candidate, either virtually or at the US office location.
The ideal candidate will have good project management skills, work well in a team, be ready to collaborate with local partners and communities, and be highly adaptive and creative when facing unforeseen challenges. The candidate must be reliable and communicative.
The engineer-trainer will be based in the field locations of the NGO in Odisha up to 100% of the time.
The engineer-trainer will be expected to provide his or her own laptop for work purposes. A cell phone with local calling capability will be provided if required.
B.S. in Engineering, preferably Civil, Environmental, Mechanical or closely related field, or 2–3 years of qualified work experience.
1–2 years of work on development projects in a project management capacity outside of the US.
Spoken proficiency in Hindi or Oriya a plus.
Job Type: Full-time contract (part-time business and study are not compatible with the demands of the project work)
Salary: Commensurate with experience, competitive with local Indian salaries.
Term: 2–3 months, with the possibility to extend depending on performance and need.
