Design and Field Engineers

AguaClara Reach is a New York State nonprofit (501(c)3 pending, predecessor AguaClara LLC) that designs municipal-scale water treatment plants that are sustainable in underserved communities and trains local organizations to implement the systems on the ground. We are a young startup seeking highly-motivated engineers who are ready for the challenge of bringing safe drinking water to the 750 million people around the world that do not currently have consistent access to it.

AguaClara engineers help co-create sustainable water treatment solutions with our international partners using the philosophy that the systems must be simple, affordable, and nonelectric. Our engineers enable communities to operate and maintain the technology independently in the long run, while imparting the knowledge required for the partner to deploy the technologies independently on a large scale. In the field, engineers largely take on project management roles alongside our partners, but also have plenty of opportunities to get hands-on. Engineers assist our partners with community mobilization, construction, startup, community training, troubleshooting, and monitoring and evaluation. Engineers can be stationed in the field up to 100% of the time over the course of project implementation.

AguaClara systems have been installed in Honduras and India, and we are working to rapidly spread our impact around the world. The ideal candidate will have experience working abroad in underdeveloped areas and will have functional proficiency in a language other than English. Candidates must have good project management skills, work well in a team, be ready to collaborate with local partners and communities, and be highly adaptive and creative when facing unforeseen challenges. The candidate must be reliable and communicative.

Functional spoken proficiency in one language other than English is a plus.
