The Sanborn Map Company is looking for an ECOLOGY GEOSPATIAL ANALYST to work on-site at a government client facility in Portland, OR.

Sanborn is looking for an ECOLOGY GEOSPATIAL ANALYST to assist data stewards to develop spatial products in support of the redevelopment of the geospatial, enterprise Aquatic Resources Information Management System (ARIMS) and the Geographic Biotic Observations (GeoBOB) databases.

Bachelor’s Degree or higher in the biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management or related disciplines

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS – MUST possess the following skills and abilities to be considered:

Experience working with natural resources data

Demonstrated knowledge of fisheries and hydrologic science

Experience in the ESRI ArcGIS version 10.x suite of software

Experience with editing in multiuser Enterprise ArcSDE databases

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

Excellent writing skills for technical documents such as software requirements, user guides and configuration management documents

Experience assessing and documenting data needs

Experience with performing geospatial statistical analysis

Experience in designing mobile GIS applications for smartphones

Experience designing and editing geodatabases with related tables to a state or national standard

Experience in designing and developing enterprise data standards

Experience producing and/or maintaining editable feature services in ArcGIS web applications

Experience using ArcGIS Collector and ArcGIS Survey 1, 2, 3

Experience using Geocortex software

Experience in producing professional hard copy, digital and web maps with 508 Compliance for Viewers with disabilities.

Develop tools to internally manage geospatial, corporate Fish Passage Barriers

Manage Manmade Fish Passage Barrier features in the Corporate Structures transactional database, maintaining the current, core required attributes.

Create mobile GIS tools to collect and edit Fish Passage Barrier Data

Create mobile GIS tools and workflows, using Survey 1,2,3 or ArcGIS Collector or the Android Mobile GIS tool.

Synchronize Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife and anadromous fish species data.

Design, create and implement automatic tools to import and export ODFW anadromous fish species data into corporate databases twice annually.

Derive Fish Presence and Absence Data from Fish Species data in Oregon and Washington

Design, create and Implement new fish presence/absence data by deriving a published feature class automatically derived daily from fish species data.

Write Aquatic Resources Data Standard for Oregon and Washington

Work with stakeholder groups to draft a complete data standard for ARIMS, which does not currently exist.

Develop Oregon and Washington Aquatic Resources Data Transactional, Statewide Database with overnight posting of field versions to Hydpub

Package generic ArcMap tools and workflow to manage stream spatial data and attributes. Field data is to be updated and accessed immediately upon version submission to a statewide, master, transactional database so National Environmental Policy Actions can be completed timely, especially for timber sales.

Develop Oregon and Washington Aquatic Resources Data Transactional, Statewide Database updates from National Hydrography Database

Provide tools and a workflow to update the statewide, master, transactional data and hydpub when the USGS NHD data is returned.

Develop Oregon and Washington Aquatic Resources Data Mobile GIS Field Data Creation and Editing System for Smartphones

Create mobile GIS tools and workflows, using Survey 1,2,3 or ArcGIS Collector or the S1 Android Mobile GIS tool to allow field staff to collect spatial and attribute data in remote, disconnected situations

Provide User Guides and training materials (PowerPoint presentation and training exercises) for each mobile tool developed.

  • Release to Obtain Credit Information
  • PIV card application

If selected to fill the position, a candidate would be required to pass a drug screen and satisfy the requirements of a National Criminal History Check (NCHC) to verify the identity of the individual applying for clearance and to determine the individual’s suitability for the position.
