The Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering supports the land-grant mission of NC State University. It provides engineering leadership in the development and dissemination of knowledge related to the efficient utilization of biological and agricultural systems and to the preservation and management of natural resources.
The Extension Assistant position will support the stormwater management, stream assessment, research and ecological design projects for the Stream Restoration Program within the Biological & Agricultural Engineering (BAE) Department. The position duties will include; performing field assessments and surveys, design, landuse analyses, and modeling work under the supervision of BAE Dept. faculty and staff to support stream and stormwater monitoring, assessment and restoration projects.
Other duties of the position will include construction management of restoration projects, installation and maintenance of surface and groundwater samplers and assisting with data analysis and project reporting.
This incumbent will need to travel off-site alone to observe research and must independently be able to travel from location to location without reliance on others or the advanced notice that is often required of alternative means of transportation.
