Profile of Regional Key Expert 5 (Senior Expert, Serving as Technical Support for the Regional Directorates) – Expert in Environment /Natural Resources
DAI Brussels is currently preparing for the forthcoming EuropeAid project “AFAFI” in Madagascar which we expect to begin early 2018. DAI is a leading development company with an extensive EU portfolio and has offices in Brussels, London and the US. DAI Brussels is part of DAI Global and has extensive experience in implementing donor-funded technical assistance projects.
The overall aim of the AFAFI programme, financed by the European Commission, is to foster a sustainable, inclusive and effective agricultural sector in the north of Madagascar. By contributing to the economic recovery and sustainable development through improved infrastructure and rural development, the programme is an integral part of the 3 main strategies defined for EU intervention in Madagascar.
Its specific aims are: (i) to improve agricultural sector governance; (ii) to increase household income by supporting the development and strengthening of inclusive agricultural value chains; and (iii) to improve food and nutrition security vis-à-vis rural households. The programme comprises 2 components: (i) supporting project coordination; (ii) supporting the sectors of agriculture, livestock farming, fisheries and the environment covering the 3 specific aims.
We welcome applications for the position of Team Leader and 4 Key Experts with skills and demonstrable experience in the above fields. Besides the Team leader and the finance specialist, 3 main senior experts, counterparts acting as technical support for the regional directorates, will be hired, to be stationed in the 3 Northern regions of Madagascar. Each of these KE will have a particular specialisation per area of intervention (rural engineering/infrastructure; livestock farming; environment /natural resources).
Profile of Regional Key Expert 5 (Senior Expert, Serving as Technical Support for the Regional Directorates) – Expert in Environment /Natural Resources:
- Postgraduate (Masters or equivalent) qualification in engineering, agriculture, sustainable development, environment or equivalent working experience of minimum of 15 years in these fields;
- 10 years of experience working on local rural development projects, preferably financed by the EU/ EDF;
- Working experience in Madagascar;
- Thorough working knowledge of French language;
- Excellent “on the field” person, strong ethics, good reporting and presentation skills.
