Job purpose and background

CDP North America is seeking a dedicated individual to join its Disclosure Services team and support our corporate engagement efforts. This person will be responsible for engaging with our corporate stakeholders, securing their annual responses to CDP, speaking on a variety of topics including natural resource disclosure and corporate sustainability. This role will report to Manager, Engagement – Disclosure Services.

Key responsibilities

• Directly manage relationships with approximately 200 companies, implementing an engagement strategy that drives increasing number and higher quality disclosures

• Securing participation in CDP through phone calls, emails, and speaking engagements

• Providing internal and external support for general and technical guidance information

• Supporting engagement protocols, procedures, and tools

• Building relationships with sector-related associations and research organizations

• Prepare and deliver presentations to external audiences on the value of CDP

• Provide guidance and support to all CDP NA staff on engaging with external stakeholders on the value of disclosing to CDP

• Generating and furthering relevant opportunities for CDP initiatives managed by other teams

• Coordinating relevant internal communications to companies

• Contributing to annual planning and engagement support development

Required skills and experience

• A university degree in a related subject

• At least one year of related work experience

• The ability to understand company needs, identify opportunities, and act on this information

• Excellent engagement and communication skills, with ability to provide high quality email and phone support

• The ability to come up to speed quickly and independently with technical information (such as CDP’s guidance materials) and apply this information to support inquiries

• Basic understanding of database systems and experience working with large datasets in MS Excel or other similar software

• Broad familiarity with MS Office, with ability to learn and master new technology systems

Desired skills and experience

• Basic knowledge of sustainability issues, specifically related to climate change, water security, and/or commodity-linked deforestation

• Keen interest in global and regional corporate reporting and disclosure

• Accurately communicating technical information in a concise, yet comprehensive manner

• Attention to detail, with strong organizational and time management skills

• The drive to take ownership and responsibility for particular areas of work

• The desire and ability to improve and streamline processes to better and more efficiently achieve program goals, rather than follow the status quo

• The ability to meet deadlines under pressure
