HumanSurge (www.humansurge.com) is currently actively seeking qualified water and sanitation engineers to join our roster of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) specialists for assignments with international NGOs responding to the Rohingya Refugee Crisis, Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh.
The exact role of the engineer will vary depending on the INGO. WASH engineers are normally deployed in humanitarian emergencies to provide temporary or ongoing water or sanitation solutions and to assist with the adoption of safe hygiene practices where disease is a risk; and provide technical advice and support through the assessment of needs and / or the development of technical or behavioural interventions. When doing so, they work in partnership with local authorities and affected populations to assist relief, recovery operations such as in the restoration of water supplies, the construction of field hospitals, camps and settlements.
Required qualifications and professional experience:
Relevant qualification in public health engineering or a related discipline (civil/hydraulic/environment engineering), with an excellent technical understanding and demonstrated experience on WASH.
A minimum of five years of relevant professional work experience in WASH programming is required. Relevant international professional experience, preferably in a humanitarian or development context, is required.
Technical skills and practical experience of preparing technical drawing, designs, BoQs and estimates of water and sanitation infrastructure is required.
Experience of working with UN clusters, government authorities and implementing I/NGO partners is required. Knowledge of humanitarian principles and standards is required.

Working knowledge of English is required. Knowledge of Bengali would be highly regarded.
