Key Responsibilities

The consultant is required to prepare, facilitate and report on a three-day training in a wide range of basic communications skills, and is expected to carry out the following key tasks, outlined below.

Preparation of training workshop:

  • Discuss with MRCS (the communication officer and the IWRMP team), and desk-review the concept notes and project-related documents;
  • Assess participants’ skills, needs and expectations;
  • Prepare training materials and workshop contents (to be agreed by MRCS).

Facilitation of training workshop:

  • Lecture on communication planning, message development, and concept of story-telling, technical skills in writing news/contents, photo-taking/editing, video shooting/editing, designing of multi-media e-newsletter;
  • Facilitate and give feedback on hands-on activities of news gathering, story writing, photo taking/editing, smartphone-based video shooting/editing, and production of an e-newsletter;
  • Lead discussion on a follow-up action and coaching plan for the participants to utilise the acquired skills (to showcase the impact of training to the donor).

Report on training workshop:

  • Draft a final report on the workshop, including materials, proceedings and any recommendations for follow-up training and actions;
  • Edit the submitted e-newsletters by participants with feedbacks/comments for improvement.
