Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist

Position Description:

SI is seeking an individual who will serve as a WASH Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Specialist. This individual should have experience undertaking monitoring and evaluations assignments including the development of an evaluation design, identification of sampling frames and sample selection, instrument design, and an ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative data. This individual will support our team by leading WASH-related evaluations. The M&E Specialist will report to a Senior Program Manager in the Performance Evaluation division.

Responsibilities:

  • Apply advanced WASH technical knowledge and state of the art methodologies, analysis, and practices to project work
  • Ensure adherence to and promote SI’s Evaluation Quality, Use, and Impact protocols, while meeting contractual requirements
  • Ensure client satisfaction and monitoring use of research and evaluation findings/products
  • Provide direct service delivery on client contracts

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree, plus 5 years of professional experience
  • Degree(s) in one of the social sciences or international development with evidence of in-depth technical training in evaluation/research design, data collection, and analysis
  • Knowledge and experience in quantitative and qualitative research methods, with a preference for strong qualitative methods experience
  • Professional experience either as a team lead or as key staff on WASH evaluations in developing countries
  • In-depth experience in the WASH sector
  • Demonstrated experience leading short-term evaluations while maintaining quality and ensuring well-written/produced deliverables
  • Experience in Africa, Middle East and/or South/South-East Asia is a plus
  • Willingness and ability to travel overseas for short term assignments
  • Proficiency in a foreign language, preferably French or Arabic
  • Demonstrated team building, team management and conflict management skills for short-term technical assistance projects, preferred
  • Experience working with USAID is strongly preferred
