Rare is seeking candidates, just like you, for our 2017 Summer Internship Program. Our Summer Internship Program takes placeat Rare’s headquarters, located in Arlington, VA. Rare has a variety of conservation focused teams: Global Solutions, Talent, Executive Office, New Programs & Sustainable Markets, Accounting & Finance, Information Technology, and Development & Communications. Please note, due to the volume of applications and limited availability of positions, you may be placed on a team which differs from the team you have expressed the most interest in.

As a Rare intern, you will gain working knowledge and valuable insight into the nonprofit, conservation and development space.  

Rare’s 8-week internship program will begin June 12th and end on August 4th. Rare pays an hourly salary to all interns.

Summer Internship Openings:

Watershed Internship

Core projects and responsibilities may include:

  • Assist with building out a log frame for proposals focused on climate, livlihoods, and post-conflict aspects of the Columbian program
  • Aid in preparations involving the move of our international offices
  • Heavy research 
  • This internship will include partnering and contributing with other departments on projects and services that improve conservation efforts globally

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fluent in spanish

Talent Internship

Core projects and responsibilities may include:

  • Formatting and organizing team shared files
  • Create skills set identification system
  • Develop project specific spreadsheets and reports
  • This internship will include partnering and contributing with other departments on projects and services that improve conservation efforts globally.

Global Development Internship

Core projects and responsibilities may include:

  • Format and organize team shared files
  • This internship will include partnering and contributing with other departments on projects and services that improve conservation efforts globally.
  • Data entry

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Salesforce.com
  • Excel experience

 Foundations Fundraising Internship

Core projects and responsibilities may include:

  • Assist with organizational improvements
  • Data entry
  • Assist with cross departmental goals and projects
  • This internship will include partnering and contributing with other departments on projects and services that improve conservation efforts globally.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Salesforce.com  

Executive Internship

Core projects and responsibilities may include:

  • Formatting and organizing team shared files.
  • Assist the Executive Assistant to the CEO with scheduling requests, assistance with expense reports, file maintenance and other real-time efforts.
  • Participate in special projects in collaboration with the CEO and Executive Assistant to the CEO.
  • This internship will include partnering and contributing with other departments on projects and services that improve conservation efforts globally.

Rare Qualifications:

  • Must possess or be in the process of obtaining a Bachelor’s degree
  • Dynamic personality ready to plug-in where needed
  • Well organized, self-motivated, and able to manage deadlines independently
  • Excellent understanding of MS Word and Excel
  • Eager and quick to learn new systems and software
  • Strong preference given to candidates with prior editing and writing experience
  • Strong preference given to candidates with demonstrated research experience
  • Superb attention to detail and proven ability to execute highly specific tasks
  • Interest in conservation/environmental issues through coursework, work experience, or extracurricular activity
  • Native or near-native written and spoken English language skills
  • Must include a CV with application
