The CIA’s Office of General Counsel (OGC) is recruiting one highly qualified Environmental Law Attorney at the GS-11 to GS-15 range to join its exciting and challenging legal practice. Experienced practitioners looking for an opportunity to serve their country are encouraged to apply. Candidates for the Environmental Law Attorney position should have a minimum of three years of environmental law practice experience and demonstrate aptitude for understanding the major environmental law statutes and Executive Orders (E.O.s), such as the National Environmental Policy Act, the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, E.O. 13693 Planning for Federal Sustainability in the Next Decade. The candidate should also be familiar with the Occupational Safety and Health Act, and standards implemented thereunder, as implemented through E.O. 12196, Occupational Safety and Health Programs for Federal Employees. The environmental law practice at CIA provides the opportunity to work on unique and challenging issues related to national security and interact with a wide variety of US Government and state agencies, Congress, federal and state authorities, and the private sector.
Minimum Requirements: Graduation from an ABA-accredited law school and active bar membership from any of the 50 states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or the US Virgin Islands are required.
OGC requires the submission as attachments of a cover letter, resume, law school transcript, legal writing sample, and the names and telephone numbers of three legal references.
