Job duties include:

  • Manages all aspects of Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) mitigation program including: coordinating with FDOT, SJRWMD, and other federal, state, regional and local agencies; developing mitigation plans as mandated by legislation and SJRWMD rules and policies; presenting annual mitigation plans to the Governing Board; providing annual mitigation plan summary reports to FDEP; managing and/or providing oversight of the FDOT mitigation budget, in coordination with other District divisions; coordinating enhancement and restoration projects on public lands with land management staff; assisting FDOT with compliance by providing mitigation monitoring reports to fulfill federal and state permitting requirements.
  • Represents the SJRWMD, as needed, in public meetings, technical advisory committees, and other related functions or meetings.  Attends quarterly WMD/FDOT/Turnpike coordination meetings.
  • Provides support to other review staff, predominately as it relates to wetland ecology and wetland mitigation.
  • Provides technical assistance to Bureau Chief and Environmental Resource Program Manager as needed and performs other related duties as assigned.

    A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in one of the natural, biological, physical, or engineering sciences and five years of experience in water resource management.

     A master’s degree from an accredited college or university in one of the natural, biological, physical, or engineering sciences can substitute for one year of experience described above.
     A doctorate from an accredited college or university in one of the natural, biological, physical, or engineering sciences experience described above.
     Professional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

SJRWMD has determined this to be a mandatory-testing position as described in Section 440.102, Florida Statutes.
