The New England Interstate Water Pollution Control Commission (NEIWPCC) is seeking candidates for an Environmental Analyst (Rule Specialist) to join the State of Maine Drinking Water Program (DWP). The incumbent will be responsible for determining public water system compliance with the state and federal safe drinking water regulations to assure that compliance monitoring schedules are entered and maintained in the Safe Drinking Water Information System (SDWIS) database and that they are correct, complete, and consistent with rules regulating public water systems. If a Public Water System (PWS) falls out of compliance with drinking water regulations, the Rule Specialist will assist with issuing a violation against the PWS. The Rule Specialist is also responsible for communicating regulatory requirements to staff and public water systems through training and direct meetings.

The successful candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related field. Organized and detail-oriented individuals with an understanding of biological and chemical basis of regulatory compliance and health concerns is a must. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are required. Computer skills including databases and spreadsheets are required.
