Position Summary

Responsible for coordinating and directing day to day project activities, supervising the work of others on project tasks, and aiding in the development new project proposals. Performs applied research across a broad spectrum of activities including development and application of environmental models, performance of field studies, and analysis of environmental data. Prepares and publishes project reports, conference papers, educational brochures and peer reviewed journal articles.

Required Education/Experience/Skills

Master’s degree and 7 years of relevant experience in environmental work; or Doctoral degree and 5 years of experience in environmental work; Progressively responsible experience with program oversight and grant proposal writing.

Preferred Education/Experience/Skills (additional qualifications)

PhD in environmental sciences, water resources or environmental engineering. Experience applying surface water quality models and watershed models. Experience with statistical methods employed with water resources and performance of field studies and surveys. Demonstrated success in obtaining extramural funding and supervisory experience.

Job Duties

Work Performed

Responsible for development and application of watershed models and water quality models to confirm acceptability of model results for use in informing environmental decisions. Responsible for analysis and presentation of model results using appropriate methods.

Work Performed

Responsible for statistical analyses of data and presentation of results in required formats including technical reports, presentations, and refereed journal articles.

Work Performed

Directs projects or portions of projects including development, supervision, and performance of field surveys and studies. Assists with administrative aspects of project management (e.g., budget tracking, personnel allocations, progress reports, and work plan and budget revisions).

Work Performed

Responsible for new project and proposal development for future TIAER funding opportunities.

Work Performed

Supervises or assists with supervising project staff. Work as a team mentor (as appropriate) with personnel that are not within direct supervisory lines on all aspects of project development and management. Obtain annual training specific to supervisory skills.
