Maintaining and improving the quantity and quality of our surface water in an environment of changing land use and a diverse landscape is central to our role in the organisation.
As part of our Surface Water Science leadership team, this job offers an opportunity to provide technical, people and project leadership within our section, leading the already skilled and experienced hydrological science team (currently 6) in the delivery of high quality analysis and advice to support water management in Canterbury.
You will work collaboratively with our internal and external partners, the community and stakeholders across the region, including providing input to processes under the Canterbury Water Management Strategy. The ability to clearly communicate and share relevant information about water quantity data and water management at various levels forms a key part of this role.
Using your tertiary qualifications, you will apply your experience related to managing water resources to support others in the surface water team. Excellent verbal and written communications skills are essential. Expertise in advanced data analysis and reporting is expected, and experience with planning processes and the setting of flow regimes would be advantageous. Salary will depend on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
We are seeking a person with a post graduate degree and a minimum 7 years’ experience in the water resources field.
