Università degli Studi di Udine

Udine, , IT

OFFER DESCRIPTION

The research activity is part of an already started participatory management process of the integrated water cycle on the regional territory. In this process, the University operates in synergy with water management companies, civil society and all stakeholders. It is becoming a priority to launch and consolidate actions to achieve the sustainable development objectives, at national and regional level. The UN 2030 Agenda for sustainable development directs institutional activities toward sanitation improvement and access to drinking water (Goal 6) and sustainable production and consumption (Goal 12).

The aim of the project is promoting cooperation between stakeholders, in order to effectively produce behavioral changes in citizens and institutions as to the sustainable management of natural resources. It promotes a wider understanding of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) importance, as well as the active participation of institutions, private sector and civil society in the Goals achievement. Around water quality and management it is possible to build good practices in behaviors and models of collaboration between institutions, management companies, schools, and civil society. A multi-stakeholder net can devise effective dissemination and educational interventions and communication strategies about the preservation of water and more in general natural resources.

Therefore the aims of the project are

i) consolidating the mentality of collaboration between stakeholders

ii) sowing connections between entities operating at different levels in the water sector and institutions, on the territory

iii) coordinating a cultural network in order to strengthen the efficiency of the participatory process and to achieve more effectively citizenship on sustainability and resource management issues, in line with the Global Goals and UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development

By following the proposed actions of this project we are going to

i) coordinate a multi-stakeholder plan in order to identify topics of common interest to be developed through coordinated actions. Multi-stakeholder working groups will be set up and coordinated to enable an active and propositive approach on the main issues, promoting the meeting of different points of view to achieve a shared vision of intent and approach

ii) identify initiatives in line with the regional sustainable development strategy, which will be defined by 2021

iii) engage citizenship (considering also the students of the local schools) in education and training with the purpose of spreading a deeper awareness of the treasure trove of natural resources, as well as enabling greater awareness of environmental emergencies, and educate the virtuous behaviours through which a citizen can contribute to protect the environment
