The project will pursue three major objectives aiming at paving the way for an efficient use of water resources by implementing an innovative strategy for the localization of leaks in underground water pipes. The first major objective is to enhance the environmental sustainability of the use of water resources by implementing innovative, integrated technologies for the prompt and accurate localization of leaks in underground water pipes thus enabling early-leak detection and thus reducing the risk of pipe break; The second major objective is to implement, for the first time on a relatively large-scale in Malta, an electromagnetic system for the localization of leaks in underground sewer pipes; Finally, the third objective relates to the implementation of innovative systems for quality control in water pipe networks. It will be given as a form of a prototype procedure for water leaks.
