Job Description
Key Role
WSP has a an opportunity within our Water Use and Resource Management team for a Junior Hydrologist or Water Resources Engineer, based in Midrand. You will be supporting and contributing on hydrological projects such as storm water management, hydrology studies/modelling, river design, water intakes, water quality modelling, climate assessment and modelling and water management plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing hydrological models including storm water management modelling, floodline assessment, climate assessment, water quality modelling for mining and industrial clients;
- Catchment Hydrological modelling including rainfall-runoff modelling and yield analysis;
- Undertaking water and salt balances, storm water management planning, flood risk assessment and flood line determination, hydrological impact assessment, water quality analysis and water quality monitoring plan;
- Giving input on water components for EIA’s and mine waste management projects;
- Assessing and analysing vast amounts of data using statistical methodologies.
- Preparing macros on MS Excel for data interpretation, reporting and management

- Contributing to the identification of SHEQ risks and driving processes to achieve Zero Harm

Qualifications
Qualifications and Required Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Civil/Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with exposure to environmental water related engineering
- Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel (Advanced), MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, MS Projects;
