Purpose of Activity/Assignment:

The purpose of this assignment is to provide technical inputs to RWS&S, Odisha to scale up Rural Water Supply Program under Jal Jeevan Mission through Water Safety & Water Security and supportive hand holding and supervision in UNICEF supported districts.

Scope of Work:

Programme area: Water Sanitation and Hygiene: Infants, young children, and caregivers especially the most vulnerable have equitable access to and use sustainable, safe, and affordable WASH services (including in Institutions) across the lifecycle

1. To support the state in strategic planning and rolling of Jal Jeevan Mission;
2. To support state in improving its capacity to scale up community management initiatives in piped water supply schemes under JJM
3. Support districts for strengthening the monitoring mechanism of functional water quality monitoring and surveillance system
4. Give hand holding support, oversee the capacity building of officials on water safety and security planning, supportive supervision of JJM implementation in UNICEF intervening districts
5. Assist RWS&S on system strengthening of Water Safety Plan / Water Security Plan for scaling up Jal Jeevan Mission
6. To support RWS&S in setting up program monitoring & evaluation of water safety & water security
7. Develop knowledge products around JJM / Water Safety Plan / Water Security / O&M of JJM / successful community practices

To support capacity building of the various stakeholders for scaling community management initiatives in piped water supply schemes under JJM 

Objective/s

3. Support districts for strengthening the monitoring mechanism of functional water quality monitoring and surveillance system
4. Give hand holding support, oversee the capacity building of officials on water safety and security planning, supportive supervision of JJM implementation in UNICEF intervening districts
5. Capacity Building and Community Engagement- Build the capacity of key stakeholders at Odisha Water and Sanitation Mission (OWSM) and District Water and Sanitation Missions (DWSM) levels, while fostering community-driven approaches to enhance participation, ownership, and long-term sustainability of ODF Plus initiatives.
