About the opportunity
The School of Civil Engineering is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate/Research Fellow – Water, Environment and Human Health in Fiji to contribute to the Watershed for Systems Health – Pacific (WISH-Pacific) project.
The WISH-Pacific is a dynamic project primarily implemented in Fiji in partnership with Fiji National University and the Wildlife Conservation Society. The first phase of the project concluded in 2023, and an additional stage of funding has now been secured. The Postdoctoral Research Associate/Research Fellow – Water, Environment and Human Health in Fiji will play a critical role in knowledge production utilising first phase data and implementation of the current phase of research.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- data management & analysis
- contribution to academic publications and conferences
- research methodology design
- project implementation
- research dissemination with key stakeholders
About you

- a completed PhD or close to completion in environmental sciences, environmental/chemical engineering or international public health
- the ability to travel to Fiji
- data analysis skills for large data sets (e.g. Python/R) and spatial data sets (QGIS/ArcGIS) or an ability to learn these rapidly
- a proven ability to publish academic journal articles as the lead author
- experience in analysing water/sanitation and or environmental data sets (e.g. climate, forest)
- knowledge of human research ethics requirements
- experience working in international development or a developing country (desirable)
- experience working with laboratory testing for water and sanitation samples (desirable)
