The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Plant Water Stewardship Program Manager, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Leading and managing all aspects of the program to reduce water usage, identify and implement projects that renew existing infrastructure to enable a robust and sustainable waste water treatment facility, and design, construct, and install new water treatment and purification equipment facilities to improve water quality consistent with stated corporate objectives 

  • Collaborate and coordinate the activities of all functions at the site (EHS, Plant Engineering, Process Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Maintenance, etc.) relative to the Water Stewardship Program.

  • Develop the staffing plans for both the site program team & sub-teams, as well as ultimate plant personnel & structure required for daily operations.  Work closely with site management to ensure the resources needed are added to the team when required.  Staffing includes all required resources:  Operators, process engineers, product engineers, EHS, plant engineering and maintenance, supply chain, sourcing, legal, HR, QC, etc.  Input and ownership will be required by area experts to identify scope to accurately estimate the project costs.

  • Work closely with the division engineering team to define and manage scope, costs, and schedule.  The program manager will facilitate site & technical experts as they identify the required process equipment, maintenance equipment, QC equipment, etc. required for the program.

  • Develop training plan and lead effort to ensure smooth start-up of operations.  Work closely with plant leadership team to implement the plan.

  • Develop quantitative plan to measure equipment performance and define quantitative deliverables for each project within the program.

  • Working closely with corporate and plant EHS as well as engineering, manage the permitting procedure for buildings, air emissions and effluent discharge.

  • Work closely with corporate and plant EHS resources to ensure that plant complies with all local, state and federal guidelines at all times.

  • Participate in safety and design reviews. 

  • Develop workable plan to manage IP, and ensure team follows the plan.

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

  • Ten (10) years experience in a private, public, government, or military manufacturing environment in one or more of the following areas: chemical engineering, reactive chemistry, manufacturing technology, process engineering, manufacturing operations, and/or environmental compliance.

  • Five (5) years of project management experience in a private, public, government, or military manufacturing environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Demonstrated strong leadership ability and history of leading high-performance teams

  • Possess an awareness of all nine knowledge areas described by the PMBOK ® Guide (A Guide to the Project Management Institute Body of Knowledge) and will typically have demonstrated expertise in at least four knowledge areas.

  • Ability to use functional expertise and project leadership skills to participate in Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) and DMAIC Six Sigma projects.

  • Experience with new operations/process scale-up in a manufacturing plant setting

  • Previous experience in an environmental, health & safety role

Travel: May include up to 25% domestic
