Description of Work Unit | The Fish, Wildlife and Conservation Biology Department expands the frontiers of knowledge through our broad-based expertise in applied ecology, quantitative methods, and human dimensions in the conservation and management of fish and wildlife. We teach students to think critically about environmental issues and become ecologically literate citizens with the training to be successful in graduate school and in careers with natural resources agencies, firms, and non-government organizations. Position Summary | Lentic ecosystems provide key services to humans but are under increasing threats that include reduced water availability, nonnative species, and a changing climate. Lentic ecosystems are vitally important in regions where water is seasonally available, including Colorado, because they provide water for human and agricultural purposes, while maintaining fisheries, ecosystem services, and recreational opportunities. We seek candidates who will develop a locally to internationally relevant research program addressing the fundamental and applied aspects of lake and reservoir fish ecology, conservation, and management. Candidates will also be expected to deliver excellent undergraduate courses for students in all three concentrations of the major in Fish, Wildlife, and Conservation Biology. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research, instruction, and engagement align with the strategic foci of the Warner College of Natural Resources, including being a global leader in natural resource research, experiential learning, and diversity and inclusion. |

Required Job Qualifications | Ph.D. in Fish/Fisheries Biology, Ecology, Conservation Biology, or closely related field Record of scholarly publication and ability to secure external funding. Demonstrated research focus on fish/fisheries ecology, conservation, and management focusing on lentic systems. |
Preferred Job Qualifications | Excellence in scholarship as evidenced by a strong record of research and publication; Research focused on the responses of freshwater fish communities to anthropogenic perturbations such as climate change, invasive species, altered hydrographs, contaminants and nutrient fluxes; University teaching and student mentoring experience, including non-traditional instruction (e.g., study abroad program); Experience working collaboratively and across disciplines and agencies (e.g., USFWS, state agencies); A demonstrated commitment to enhancing diversity and inclusion in fish, wildlife, and conservation biology fields. |
