The Ministry of SaskBuilds and Procurement is looking for a talented environmental professional with experience in contaminated sites, water quality and/or sustainable built environment.

Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Environmental Services Professional to join our team. The successful candidate will support building environmental performance programs and regulatory compliance, including site assessments, managing water conservation and quality assurance programs, overseeing environmental projects, compiling necessary reports, and developing training programs. This role is ideal for an EIT or Professional Engineer in Environmental, Industrial, Mechanical, Civil Engineering, or Environmental Systems Engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with water, wastewater, municipal waste bylaws, and site contamination regulations.
    • Manage and deliver projects related to waste management rollout in buildings and contaminated site assessments and remediation.
    • Responsible for meeting government-mandated reduction targets.
  • Water Conservation and Quality Assurance:
    • Manage water conservation and quality assurance programs across the province.
    • Aim for an annual 1% reduction in water use across the building portfolio.
    • Conduct water sampling from the entire building portfolio to meet regulations.
    • Perform water audits and water quality assessments.
  • Project Management:
    • Oversee environmental projects, including third-party building certifications such as LEED and BOMA BEST.
    • Complete environmental audits, radon assessments, air quality testing, waste audits, energy audits, green cleaning audits, and tenant satisfaction surveys.
  • Reporting:
    • Compile data for regulatory compliance, Sask. Water, Water Security Agency, Ministry of Environment, Saskatchewan Health Authority, and annual reports for the Ministry.
  • Training:
    • Develop and coordinate appropriate training for operational employees regarding waste management, water quality and conservation, site contamination, and third-party certification programs.
