The role 
We have a fulltime permanent position within the Science and Innovation team for a water quantity scientist based in our Palmerston North office.  You will be working alongside a team of scientists, hydrologists and data analysts to help develop, implement and lead a science programme that informs the management of water allocation across our large and diverse region. The role will also support our regulatory team including contributing to consents and compliance processes. 

About you
The successful applicant will demonstrate a customer focused mind-set, working with other specialists across the organisation to solve problems and deliver solutions for natural resource management.

Suitable candidates should hold a bachelor level qualification in a relevant natural science discipline. Candidates with a solid foundation in hydrology, ecology or environmental science are preferred.  Previous working experience in freshwater science, surface water allocation or hydrology, familiarity with the Resource Management Act will be advantageous. As would skills and experience in project management, data analysis and reporting, and an ability to communicate scientific information in an engaging and informative way. 

We are looking for the right person to fill the role and are willing to develop and provide on the job training for the right candidate.
