The China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research (IWHR), one of the IAHR Institute members and also the host of IAHR’s Global Secretariat in Beijing, is a Chinese national research institute, under the Ministry of Water Resources. After decades of development, IWHR has built itself into a national centre for comprehensive scientific research and technology development of water resources and hydropower, boasting top class talents, including 13 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and a complete array of research disciplines. 

At present, IWHR has 13 non-profit research departments and four technology enterprises, with four state-level research centres, nine ministry-level research centres, one State Key Laboratory and two Ministerial Key Laboratories.
