WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-Time Entry level Hydrologist for our Austin, TX office.
Duties and Responsibilities:Document and record data and observations in a clear and organized manner
  • Provide assistance in the analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of hydrologic, hydrogeologic, and chemical data obtained during investigations
  • Assist in preparing project plans, studies, and reports
  • Ability to develop geological and hydrogeological cross-sections utilzing geologic and geophysical data
  • Knowledgeable about performing geospatial, geostatistical, and general quantitative analysis
  • Knowledgeable about understanding streamflow data, preparing hydrographs, and developing water budegts on a basin level
  • Keen interest in learning standard field sampling procedures for various environmental media (soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, and air)

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 1+ years of experience within Geology, Hydrology, Water Resources, or a related field.
  • Bachelors in Engineering, Geology, Hydrology, Water Resources or related field
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • The ability to think critically and effectively present and communicate ideas;
  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced work environment;
  • The ability to work well independently and as part of a team environment;
  • Possess strong analytical, collaborative and technical skills;
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Preferred Qualifications
  • EIT or GIT certifications
  • Well-versed in at least one programming language: R, Python, Fortran, C/C++, C#, Julia, MATLAB or other related programming language widely used for quantitative analysis
  • Proficient in generating maps and conducting analysis in ArcGIS, QGIS, and developing/editing geodatabase
  • Knowledgeable in relational database design and queries
  • Background in groundwater hydrology and groundwater modeling or watershed modeling tools: MODFLOW/MT3D, HYDRUS, BASINS, SWAT, or other related numerical models
