The Harpeth River Watershed Association seeks an outgoing, highly organized and savvy individual to work closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and program staff to manage and implement the organization’s philanthropic efforts and communications.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the position will be responsible for:

  • Managing individual donor, foundation, and corporate relationships, other than major donor relationships
  • Helping develop and implement new fundraising strategies that both expand donor support and the organization’s reach
  • Coordination of signature fundraising events including sponsorship and logistics
  • Managing and implementing membership fundraising campaigns and communications, including responsibility for the annual newsletter, web site, social media, and other fundraising materials
  • Forming and managing organizational committees and volunteers for donor and fundraising activities
  • Networking to promote the organization’s mission
  • Managing donor records with complete confidentiality


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher with 5+ years of experience in the nonprofit sector managing a combination of donor development, fundraising events, publicity, and outreach
  • Established ties and networks in middle Tennessee, particularly Williamson and Davidson Counties
  • Professional, detail-oriented, energetic and outgoing, and passionate about conservation
  • Excellent writing ability, and communication/public relations experience, that includes social media, website management, marketing, and design of donor outreach materials
  • Strong management abilities, and experience managing the financial aspects of fundraising
  • Excellent technology and computer skills including in-depth experience with DonorPerfect or similar donor management software, and familiarity with web design, and social media platforms as must
  • A team player with demonstrated experience in project management leadership with staff and volunteers.
  • Have an understanding of water quality, conservation, or environmental issues in general
  • Able and willing to work outside of the constraints of a standard work week, as required, including weekends and before and after scheduled hours
