The Natural Resources Access Regulator (NRAR) is currently seeking to appoint a Technical Specialist
to work alongside a senior project officer in the Operational Technology team. Your technical expertise will be central to the project. You will assess features, functions, costs, risks and effectiveness of the current remote worker safety tracking solution and of alternate solutions / approaches. You will run pilots of short-listed solutions.
You will consult with internal stakeholders, WHS Committee representatives and with marketplace vendors. You will identify the preferred solution / approach and transition / implementation plans.
The project will deliver clear evidence-based recommendations to the Executive sponsor.
The Technical Specialist plays a key role in improving NRAR’s operational technologies. The technical specialist ensures that technologies are effective and enhance safety in the field.
In this role, you’ll support NRAR staff with technology both in the office and in the field. You’ll be responsible for developing and implementing operational technology capabilities in line with NRAR’s Technology Strategy.
Key knowledge and experience
- Experience with and knowledge of relevant technologies, equipment and methods
- Experience in rural water management and regulation or other relevant field such as: water planning, hydrometrics, natural resource management, surveying, agriculture, environmental science or engineering.
Essential requirements
- Qualifications in science, engineering, hydrometrics, natural resource management, agriculture, surveying, instrumentation or other relevant discipline.
- Current NSW Driver’s License
- Willingness to drive to and work in remote locations in NSW including overnight stays
- Appointment is subject to the successful applicant satisfactorily passing the criminal record check.
