Offer Description
The research activity concerns the mitigation of flood risk by improving the performance of hydrological models of flood flow formation, to be made available to the bodies in charge of water governance. The activity will focus on the Emilia-Romagna region and in particular on the territories of Romagna affected by the recent floods. It is envisaged to develop a forecasting model of the water flow rates at the crest, both for river and drainage networks, in order to assess the predictive capacity of the model both in real time and in deferred time. The model will also aim to analyse the temporal evolution of risk conditions since the Second World War, based on historical land use surveys. The model will also allow the evaluation of options for risk mitigation and for the improvement of considered climate services. The work will be accompanied by analyses of historical and scenario climate data in order to obtain future climate scenarios with a focus on extreme rainfall.
