Post Doc Opportunity in Computational Ecology (m/f/x)

For the Department of Plankton and Microbial Ecology of IGB in Neuglobsow we are inviting applications for the position of Post Doc for an immediate start.

The successful candidate will focus on the analysis of large data sets to advance understanding of freshwater ecosystems and communities. They will use a combination of data and theoretical models to disentangle drivers of community structure to understand how communities might respond to anthropogenic change. Located on a large clear-water lake one hour north of the German capital, Berlin, the department is fully equipped for field and lab work which has contributed to comprehensive long-term data sets on lakes, experimental data acquired during large-scale enclosure experiments, and high-frequency data collected in situ during both experiments and long-term observations

Your profile

  • PhD in ecology or related field
  • Good publication record
  • Competency in a standard programming language (R preferred)
  • Statistical and mathematical competency or at least enthusiasm

Our offer

It is a full-time position with 39 working hours per week. In principle, the position could be suited for part time work and the duration would be extended accordingly. Salary is paid according to the German salary scheme for the public sector (TVöD Bund, E13). It is a fixed-term position, initially limited to 1.5 years.
