An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Water Resources team in a specialist hydrology role that will play an important part in maintaining the security of water supply to our customers. As a Water Resource Specialist you will provide technical support on complex hydrological issues to maintain the security of the key upstream water resources and assets both in terms of quantity and quality.
You will be responsible for the hydrological analysis of all our upstream water resources (river flows, reservoir storage and groundwater levels) and the measurement, analysis and presentation of climatic and hydrologic data. You will produce monthly water resource situation reports and will be responsible for producing our drought forecasts. You will report on hydrological monitoring data for compliance with abstraction licence conditions. You will also complete contaminant risk assessments for surface water sources, and use models to assess the risk of water quality failure in our surface water assets.
You will provide specialist hydrological advice to the wider business, external customers and our regulators. This will include rainfall-runoff and reservoir storage modelling, advice on reservoir refill strategies, abstraction management and, surface water quality incident response.
You will provide the primary point of contact in the team for all matters related to hydrology to ensure a consistent approach when dealing with external stakeholders such as the Environment Agency and wider Anglian Water business units.
With a Degree and post graduate qualification (or equivalent) in Water Resources, Hydrology or Environmental Sciences you will have proven experience in using a variety of relevant water resource modelling packages and tools.
This role requires strong technical expertise and leadership qualities, as well as good organisation, communication and presentation skills. You will have strong report writing abilities and be able to influence and negotiate effectively with internal and external stakeholders whilst demonstrating initiative and enthusiasm.
