The suitable applicant for this Hydrometric Operations role within Water Operations and Systems will lead a team of seven technical specialists, each possessing diverse expertise in mechanical trades, electrical engineering, and scientific disciplines. This team is dedicated to supporting state-wide water monitoring through technical operations. The role is pivotal in ensuring the consistent and effective delivery of water resource measurement and management programs while also overseeing various identified projects. Additionally, the position involves managing the design, development, supply, and support of hydrographic instrumentation and equipment essential for state-wide water monitoring.
Key Accountabilities:
• Provide strategic direction, guidance, and leadership to the team to ensure alignment with organisational goals and state-wide water monitoring objectives.
• Lead and mentor staff to foster a collaborative and high performing work environment, while promoting continuous improvement.
• Apply the provisions of the Water Act 2000 and Water Regulation 2016 relating to monitoring and management of the State’s water resources.
• Provide high level technical advice and prepare technical documentation.
• Undertake projects to embed state-wide policy, procedures and standards for the collection, storage, and management of water resource data in departmental systems.
• Provide oversight of the Department’s water monitoring certified quality management systems.
• Provide oversight on the planning and technical delivery of the water monitoring capital works program ensuring it’s executed efficiently.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and implement innovative solutions for improving water monitoring instrumentation.
• Represent the department and water monitoring business in a wide range of forums.
About You
There are no mandatory requirements for this role however, strong communication, project management and an understanding of water monitoring instrumentation would be highly regarded.
