The position is a five month full-time, fixed term contract. Prior experience in a similar role is essential. We would like to recruit for this role immediately and it is important that the new hire is able to hit the ground running.

The RGI 2017 measures and assess the quality of governance in the oil, gas and mining sectors in 81 resource-rich countries, which together are home to 81 percent of the global population. It is the only international index dedicated to the measurement of governance of extractive resources, and will be published later this year. A full description of the RGI 2013 findings, methodology and country results are available at www.resourcegovernance.org/rgi.

The successful candidate will support the delivery and execution of the RGI 2017. In addition to reviewing and fact-checking primary research collected by external consultants, interpreting and analyzing data and contributing to the production of written research findings, the role will also involve administrative duties, including database management.

The role requires some prior knowledge of the extractives sector and is particularly suited to a Masters graduate with prior experience in a data-driven environment, seeking to apply their skills to the world of policy and international development.

  • Providing administrative and logistical support, including assisting with RGI 2017 launch events
  • Providing general assistance to team members, including preparing presentations, summarizing reports, taking minutes and tracking extractives-related external events.

Required and Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree (Bachelors or Masters) in a relevant field (economics, political science, development studies, law or international relations)
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and work towards tight deadlines
    • Strong attention to detail
