Our Aboriginal Engagement team within our Aboriginal Water Program is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Engagement Officer as lead and assist with the development of strategic projects. Enhance capacity of Aboriginal communities to participate in water management for Southern NSW.
The Senior Engagement Officer works within the Regional Aboriginal Engagement Unit to provide project management support, Aboriginal engagement and communications and contributes to strategy development to enhance the capacity of Aboriginal Communities to participate in the management of water resource management in NSW. The role also provides advice and support to the strategy, project and policy teams building awareness of Aboriginal cultural issues, protocols and opportunities
The Senior Engagement Officer manages and coordinates the development, implementation and evaluation of complex programs to achieve program outcomes, and support achievement of organisational objectives.
This is an Aboriginal Identified role where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role. Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act (1977).
About You
We are seeking someone who has:
- Extensive experience leading a team in developing strategies and programs to support Aboriginal communities.
- Solid project and/or program management experience
- Understanding and knowledge of the Government public administration processes, governance, protocols and reporting requirements
- Proficiency in building awareness of Aboriginal cultural issues, protocols and opportunities
- Ability to be based from and travel within the Souther Region of NSW, including;
- South Sydney, Wollongong and Goulburn
- South Coast NSW
- Lachlan Region
- Murrumbidgee Region
- Murray Region
Essential Requirements
- This is an Identified role under the Section 14d of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 and as such Aboriginality is an essential requirement of the role. Aboriginal identified positions are developed where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role. Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act (1977) for Aboriginal people who meet the following criteria:
- You are of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, and
- You identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, and
- You are accepted as a such by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community.
- Sensitivity to and understanding of Aboriginal Culture and an excellent understanding of Aboriginal community governance and structures
- This role requires travel within NSW and a current NSW Driver’s Licence
