South East Water is thrilled to announce an opening for a Water Policy Lead to join our Sustainable Water Strategy Group. In this pivotal role within the Water Portfolio team, you will be instrumental in influencing and developing policies that bolster water security for our customers and shaping our Urban Water Strategy. You will have the chance to work alongside a team of experienced professionals, manage key projects, and provide strategic advice and briefings for senior executives.
Your role will involve close collaboration with a diverse range of stakeholders to advance water security and contribute to Greater Melbourne’s water conservation strategies.

Who are you?
To excel in this role, you will need to bring a natural flair for engaging with people and a strong ability to communicate effectively. Your interpersonal skills will be critical in building and maintaining relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders. We are looking for someone with a keen eye for detail and outstanding professional writing skills.
Here’s what you need to bring to the table:
- Outstanding Communication and Influence: Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Collaborative Engagement: Proven skills in fostering collaboration and engaging with various teams and partners.
- Exceptional Writing Skills: Proficiency in creating high-quality executive briefs and business cases is highly desirable.
- Organisational Ability: Strong planning and organizational skills to manage and deliver on daily activities and projects efficiently.
- Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to work with a sharp eye for detail.
- Policy Development Experience: Familiarity with government processes and policy development is advantageous.
- Analytical Skills: Solid analytical capabilities, with demonstrated ability in assessing information to draw robust recommendations.

This role is remunerated at a Level 5, which is between $112,377 and $125,011 + super and offers are commensurate with the successful candidates’ experience.
South East Water operates a 24/7 service environment. Whilst this role does not involve after-hours rostered duty, all employees may be required to provide out of hours support from time to time as required
