Position Overview

In pursuit of a 100% lead-free America, the nation has made accelerating the replacement of lead service lines a top priority through the Get the Lead Out Initiative. A service line is the pipe that connects the water main to the plumbing in a home or building. We are seeking outgoing Part-time Water Sector Community Engagement Specialists to directly support the Get the Lead Out Initiative. The candidate will meet with communities with potential lead service lines and provide direct community engagement and targeted assistance based on the unique needs of the community. This technical assistance may include door-to-door community engagement, attending community events, and partnering with local organizations and local water utilities as part of a large team. This work will be conducted in a team environment allowing for collaboration with like-minded colleagues. No prior experience in the water sector is needed; training will be provided.

Due to the nature of this work, the candidate must be able to travel. Some communities may have geographic settings that are physically demanding. All trip expenses will be reimbursed, and candidates will receive a set, location-specific per diem allowance to cover their meal and incidental expenses. This is a contract-only position expected to end in October 2025.
