The topic of the research project concerns the mitigation of drought and flood risk in the context of the Italian territory through the development of climate services, i.e. assessments of the future climate and related impacts on floods and droughts. The activity will focus on paleoclimatic reconstructions, analysis of historical trends of observed climate data, analysis of future climate projections and analysis of the impact on the dynamics of surface and
groundwater. For this last part, the use of numerical models with appropriate structure and resolution is envisaged. The activity is aimed at developing the research topics envisaged for the DS8 spoke “Climate services for risk mitigation and adaptatin” of the Return Extended Partnership “Environmental, natural and anthropogenic risks”, financed by the European Union – NextGenerationEU (National Recovery Plan and Resilience – PNRR, Mission 4 Component 2, Investment 1.3 – D.D. 1243 2/8/2022, PE0000005.
