The Role
Operating from within Water Resource Management, South Region, you will be part of a team leading and delivering compliance related functions that contribute to achieving sustainable management and use of the Region’s water resources, consistent with Departmental frameworks, policies and priorities, in partnership with stakeholders.

The botanic garden features twenty five hectares of bird life and species native to the Upper Darling Basin. St. George sits on the banks of the mighty Balonne River and is known as the Inland Fishing Capital. Key Accountabilities:
Ability to lead the delivery of regional compliance and audit programmes across South Region within established timeframes.
Demonstrated ability to skilfully communicate, present, consult and negotiate with internal and external clients to lead the delivery of regulatory services and compliance activities.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply legislation, specifically the Water Act 2000 and Planning Act 2016 and subordinate legislation, regulations and policy, to achieve compliance and water resource management outcomes.

Provide accurate and timely advice on strategic direction, project actions, policy application and regional implementation for compliance and regulatory outcomes.
Contribute to the development, evaluation and implementation of water policy and plans to achieve regional business priorities with particular emphasis on the delivery of compliance and auditing in South Region
Demonstrated ability to review reports, analyse data in departmental databases and prepare well-written and detailed reports, briefs and correspondence within short timeframes.

About You
Leads team strategically to organise work priorities to deliver organisational commitments.
Exceptional relationship building skills to represent the department at public forums.

Authorised officer status under the Water Act 2000 or the ability to meet the requirements to become an authorised officer.
Travel away from the centre may be required.
