The Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences and the Program in Environmental Studies at Washington University in St. Louis invite applications for a tenure-track or tenured faculty position at the assistant, associate, or full professor rank, commensurate with experience, in the field of geospatial Earth science. This is part of a broader cluster hire of 14 faculty members in the area of digital transformation within the School of Arts & Sciences. The candidate is expected to conduct research that applies Earth system data to address problems important to society, including but not limited to those relating to climate, agriculture, water, energy, and public health. The ideal candidate will explore complex Earth systems using numerical, statistical, and computational approaches that integrate environmental datasets across spatial and temporal scales.
The successful candidate is expected to develop a vigorous, externally-funded research program, maintain a strong publication record, advise undergraduate and graduate students, teach a range of undergraduate and graduate courses, and be active in departmental governance and university service. We seek candidates who complement our existing research expertise in climate, Earth surface processes, biogeochemistry, and planetary science while also fostering collaboration with environmental scientists and scholars across the Washington University community and leaders in the St. Louis region. This position is a joint appointment between the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences (75%) and the Environmental Studies program (25%).

Candidates must have a Ph.D. with a focus in Earth science, environmental science, or a related field, at the time of appointment.
