Mission and objectives

SimukaAfrica. org is a registered as and UN SDG Action Cause, established in 2009 as a response to the poverty, gender-based violence, and limited access to educational programs impacting at-risk girls, marginalized youth, and families of Zimbabwe. Our SDG 1-6 programs include the international 34Gallery.org Initiative, The Norton Library, and the Match-A-Meal Program among others.

Context

Sustainable Development Goal 6 addresses global access to clean water and sanitization services for international populations. Our primary focus is awareness of goals 6.4: Increase water-use efficiency and ensure freshwater supplies & 6.5: Implement Integrated Water Resources Management to assist our local community. For this SDG6 online campaign, we seek professionals who can share their expertise regarding Sustainable Agriculture, Clean Water & Climate Change Drought. Zimbabwe and most of the East African Region was placed under a state of emergency due to the impact of climate change drought on local farms and crops. Awareness of sustainability efforts towards these issues is critical at this time. This assignment will highlight Simuka Africa Youth Association’s (SimukaAfrica.org) SDG 6 efforts regarding local borehole construction and maintenance, which has been an ongoing effort for more than a decade. The purpose of this online campaign is to highlight the importance of water in all aspects of daily life alongside bringing attention to the plight of the local farming community and resulting food security crisis.
