Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week as per the telework agreement.
Licensed Authorization Specialist (Water)
$69,969.42 – $89,774.32 annually
The Thompson Okanagan Water Allocation Team is a seasoned group of dedicated professionals spread across key locations in the region. Led by the Water Allocation Section Head, this team is comprised of the Senior Water Authorizations Specialists and Water Authorization Specialists who collaboratively guide water management decisions based on solid science and evidence-based policies. They play a crucial role in managing British Columbia’s water resources, while maintaining strong relationships with federal, local and First Nations partners.
As a Water Authorizations Specialist, you will be at the forefront of evaluating and adjudicating water use applications, offering expert technical advice and fostering valuable partnerships. Qualifications for this role include:
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in the natural resource management field, PLUS two (2) years of related experience* working in natural resource management, OR
- Diploma in the natural resource management field, PLUS three (3) years of related experience* working in natural resource management, OR
- An equivalent combination of education and related experience* may also be considered, AND
- Registered, or immediately eligible for registration with the British Columbia professional association as required by the specialty area (e.g., Forest Professionals British Columbia, Institute of Agrologists, Association of Professional Engineers & Geoscientists).
*Related experience includes the following:
- Experience working with natural resource management theories, legislation, practices, concepts and processes.
