About WASH Institute
Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Institute (WASH Institute), established in 2008, is a non-profit organization, dedicated to providing practical solutions to tackle a wide range of water, sanitation, hygiene and environmental issues in India and the neighbouring countries. WASH Institute aims to build the capacities of the sector through programs that provide a) training and academic courses, b) technical advisory and consultancy services, and c) grassroots community WASH programs.
WASH Institute has been conducting extensive training programs for government functionaries, private sector professionals, NGOs, and other practitioners with the objective of effective WASH implementation across the country. In addition, our academic campus offers Diploma and Masters level courses in sanitation, under affiliation with a leading university.
We are a multi-disciplinary team that tackle complex multi-faceted problems of behaviour change, quality of service, and sustainability of WASH interventions. Currently, we are looking for experienced professionals to work with us towards our visions of “a world where all the communities have access to safe, protected and sustainable drinking water and sanitation services, with improved hygiene practices”.
Project Title: “Integrated Climate Resilient WASH Project, Dindigul, Tamil Nadu”
Timeframe: 3 Years (1st October 2024 – 30th September 2027)

Desired Qualification and Experience:
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in the construction and management of sanitation facilities, with a focus on wastewater treatment systems.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Public Health Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
• Relevant work experience with government / semi-government / autonomous organizations / NGOs will be desirable.
• Proven track record in project management, including planning, execution, and monitoring of large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of sanitation technologies, solid & liquid waste treatment processes, and environmental regulations.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Execute & supervise the construction and installation of sanitation facilities, including solid & liquid treatment systems, ensuring adherence to design specifications and project timelines.
• Designing / developing, reviewing, and assisting in executing sanitation systems & solid & liquid treatment systems as required in project location.
• Conduct regular site inspections to monitor the progress, quality, and safety of ongoing construction work.
• Plan, schedule, and manage resources for the successful completion of sanitation projects, including budget management and reporting.
• Prepare technical drawings with respect to project requirements.
• Assist/ support in preparing reports, including progress updates, risk assessments, and mitigation strategies.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation, including technical specifications, manuals, and as-built drawings.
• Ensure timely completion of projects by managing project timelines and addressing any delays promptly.
• Liaising with government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and community leaders to ensure project alignment with local needs and regulations.
• Facilitate training and capacity-building programs for local staff and community members on the operation and maintenance of sanitation facilities.
